This is the best ham salad I’ve made! Incredibly easy and quick to make using leftover ham, celery, mayonnaise, and onion. There is no need for any fancy ingredients or equipment. This recipe only requires a food processor. Before serving, let this ham salad chill in the fridge for a few hours. Then, serve as a spread for crackers. This ham salad also pairs well with rolls and biscuits.
This recipe is amazing to use leftover holiday ham. But you can also use small boneless, cooked ham or thick ham steaks. Do not worry if you do not have a food processor because you can also make this by hand. It takes more work, but it is worth it! Or simply makes this in a blender, mincing a little at a time.
Ingredients
1 hard-boiled egg
1 ½ lbs boneless, cooked ham (leftover or purchased thick slab, trimmed of fat and diced)
1 stalk celery, roughly chopped
2 tsp finely chopped onion
¾ c. mayonnaise
1 tbsp prepared mustard
2 tsp sweet pickle relish (optional)
assorted crackers and/or soft rolls
salt and pepper (to taste)
How to make The Best Ham Salad
Step 1: Into a blender or food processor, place the ham, egg, celery, and onion. To taste, slightly season with fresh black pepper. To mince, pulse for about 20 to 25 minutes. To ensure everything is evenly blended, scrape down the sides of the food processor.
Step 2: In another bowl, place the sweet pickle relish, mayonnaise, and mustard. Mix well. Then, whisk in the minced ham mixture.
Step 3: Tent the bowl and place it in the fridge to chill for a couple of hours.
Step 4: When ready, serve the ham salad on rolls, biscuits, or crackers. Enjoy!
Notes:
This recipe is great to use leftover holiday ham.
You can also use ham steaks.
