I can’t wait to go home for Thanksgiving! I know that my mom is going to cook this delicious Green Bean Casserole. Oh, man, it’s going to awesome! Give this one a try and feel free to tweak it a little. Enjoy!
Ingredients:
⅓ stick butter
½ c diced onions
½ c sliced fresh mushrooms
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 c sliced green beans
3 c chicken broth
10.5 ounces cream of mushroom soup
½ c French-fried onions
Salt/Pepper, to taste
1 c grated Cheddar
Directions:
Step 1: Prepare the oven and preheat to 175 degrees C or 350 degrees F.
Step 2: Place a large skillet on the stove and turn the heat to medium.
Step 3: Add in the butter and allow it to melt.
Step 4: Add in the onions and mushrooms. Sauté for about 5 minutes or until the mushrooms are soft and the onion is translucent.
Step 5: Add the fresh garlic and cook for a minute until aromatic.
Step 6: Remove the skillet from the heat.
Step 7: Place a large pot on the stove and in the chicken broth.
Step 8: Turn the heat to high and allow the broth to boil.
Step 9: Add in the green beans and cook for about 10 minutes or until done.
Step 10: Drain the beans and set aside.
Step 11: In a large mixing bowl, add in the mushrooms, onions, green beans, garlic, French-friend onions, mushroom soup, salt, and pepper. Stir until well combined.
Step 12: Transfer the mixture into a greased 1 ½-quart baking dish and spread it evenly.
Step 13: Place it inside the preheated oven and bake for about 20 minutes or until done.
Step 14: Remove from the oven and sprinkle a generous amount of grated cheese on top.
Step 15: Put it back inside the oven and bake for another 10 minutes or until the cheese has melted completely.
Step 16: Remove from the oven and allow it to cool at room temperature.
Step 17: Serve and enjoy!
Notes:
Substitution Options:
You can add ½ teaspoon of onion powder if you are not a fan of onion.
You can also remove the mushrooms from the ingredients.
