Oh, my! The gravy alone of this dish is more than enough for me! Wait until you get a bite of the luscious steaks! I have listed all the things you will be needing. Feel free to add more ingredients if you prefer. Have a great day, friends. Enjoy!
Ingredients:
1 pound cube steak
1 medium onion, sliced
4 to 6 mushrooms, fresh
½ cup all-purpose flour
½ cup Panko bread crumbs
½ teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon ground pepper
½ teaspoon garlic powder
½ teaspoon onion powder
½ teaspoon Season-All (optional)
½ teaspoon taco seasoning mix (optional)
2 Tbsp cooking oil
1 tablespoon butter
1 teaspoon garlic, minced
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 package dry onion soup mix
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
2 tablespoons tomato paste
2 cups water or beef broth
¼ cup dry red wine
salt and pepper, to taste (for beef)
Directions:
Place a heavy skillet on the stove and turn the heat to medium-high.
Add oil and butter, then allow them to become hot and melt.
Pound the steaks, then season them with salt and pepper.
In a mixing bowl, add the seasonings, flour, and Panko. Whisk until well mixed.
Add the steaks into the flour mixture and toss until well coated.
Put the coated steaks into the hot skillet and cook each side for about 3 minutes or until brown.
Remove the steaks from the skillet onto a clean plate.
In the same skillet, add the sliced mushrooms and onions. Saute until soft.
Add a bit of flour and stir until well combined.
Pour in the wine and scrape the bottom to get the brown bits.
Add water, Worcestershire sauce, onion soup mix, and 2 tablespoons of tomato paste. Stir until well combined.
Put the steaks back to the skillet and toss until well coated by the gravy.
Simmer for about 15 minutes or until the steaks are soft.
Serve hot over rice or mashed potatoes. Enjoy!
Note:
Don’t forget to spoon the delicious sauce over!
