Ingredients
½ cup canned sweet potatoes. You can also use 2-3 roasted sweet potatoes peeled, pulverized, or pureed. ¾ cup sugar
2 big eggs
¼ cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
4 tablespoons softened butter
¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon
Salt to taste
1 unbaked pie shell 9 inches in diameter, homemade or purchased.
The process
Step 1: Preheat the oven to 300 degrees Fahrenheit
Step 2: Use an electric mixer to combine the sweet potatoes, half of the sugar, the butter, milk and vanilla with the eggs, buttermilk, butter, milk nutmeg, cinnamon and sugar. Mix it until smooth, without lumps.
Step 3: The blended mixture should be poured into a pie shell. Sprinkle the remaining quarter of sugar over it. Allow the pie to rest for 15 minutes before you bake it. This will allow the sugar to melt.
Step 4: Bake in the oven until it is cooked. After an hour, you can check it. Allow it to cool down before you serve and enjoy the flavor.
Tips:
To check if the pie is cooked properly, place a toothpick into the middle. Once it comes out clean you can take it out of the oven.
