Ingredients:
1-pound bulk mild Italian sausage
1 ¼ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
4 slices bacon, cut into ½-inch pieces
1 large onion, diced
1 tablespoon minced garlic
5 (13.75 ounces) can chicken broth
6 medium (2-¼″ to 3″ dia, raw) s potatoes, thinly sliced
1 cup heavy cream
¼ bunch fresh spinach, tough stems removed
Directions:
Step 1: Place a Dutch oven on the stove and turn the heat to medium-high.
Step 2: Add in the Italian sausage and red pepper flakes. Cook for 10 to 15 minutes or until the color turns brown and the texture is crumbly. Drain the excess fat and set aside.
Step 3: Add in the bacon and cook for 10 minutes or until crispy. Remove the accumulated grease and leave about 2 tablespoons of the grease.
Step 4: Add in the garlic and onions and cook for 5 minutes or until the garlic is aromatic and the onions are translucent.
Step 5: Pour in the chicken broth and allow it to boil on high heat.
Step 6: Add in the potatoes and cook for 20 minutes or until tender and a fork can easily pierce through.
Step 7: Reduce the heat to medium and add in the cooked sausage and heavy cream. Stir until well mixed.
Step 8: Top with the spinach. Serve and enjoy!
