I love how simple yet delicious this Spicy Buttermilk Fried Chicken Sandwich is! Oh, man, you have got to give this recipe a try! You can always add more ingredients to it if you wish. Enjoy!
Ingredients:
Buttermilk Marinade
1 c buttermilk
1 teaspoon each salt, pepper, garlic powder
2 tablespoon Sriracha or your favourite hot sauce
4 pieces boneless skinless chicken thighs pounded to even thickness
Flour Mixture
1 tablespoon paprika powder
1 teaspoon each salt, pepper, garlic powder, cayenne powder add more cayenne for extra spice
3 tablespoons cornstarch
1 c all-purpose flour
Sriracha Mayo
2 tablespoons Sriracha
½ c mayonnaise
To assemble
4 brioche buns lightly toasted with butter
lettuce, tomato, pickles sliced
cooking oil for frying
Directions:
Add Sriracha, buttermilk, garlic powder, salt, and pepper into a mixing bowl. Stir until well mixed.
Add the chicken thighs and toss until well coated. Place them inside the fridge to marinate for about 4 hours or overnight.
In a mixing bowl, add cornstarch, flour, garlic powder, cayenne pepper, paprika, salt, and pepper. Whisk until well combined.
Add 2 tablespoons of the marinade into the flour mixture and stir until well mixed.
Add the chicken thighs into the flour mixture, then toss until well coated. Shake off any excess.
Add mayonnaise and Sriracha into a mixing bowl. Stir until well blended.
Place a pan on the stove and turn the heat to medium.
Add oil and allow it to become hot.
Add the chicken thighs in batches and cook per side for 3 minutes or until they turn golden brown. Remove from the pan and transfer them onto a clean plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil. Repeat the process with the rest of the chicken.
Brush each bun with the mayonnaise mixture.
Add pickles, tomato, and lettuce.
Serve with the chicken and enjoy!
