This recipe has always been a part of my family since I was a little kid. I remember my grandma used to cook this all the time. I learned a lot from her including this which I love the most! I am so grateful to her for this because now, I get to share it with you as well. How awesome is that? I have listed all the ingredients and directions so all you have to do is to follow them step by step and you are good to go! As perfect as this recipe already is, feel free to add more ingredients if you wish. I am sure that you can do a lot to make this recipe even better! Ingredients:
2 lbs. uncooked Italian or bratwurst sausages
10 hot dog buns or small sandwich rolls (optional)
3 medium bell peppers, assorted colours, sliced ½-inch thick
1 c beer
1 medium yellow onion, thinly sliced
2 tbsp whole-grain mustard
Freshly ground black pepper
Directions:
In a 5-quart slow cooker, add the onion, mustard, and peppers. Stir until well mixed.
Arrange the sausages on top of the onion mixture.
Cover and seal the slow cooker. Cook for 6 hours on a low setting or until done.
Remove the sausages from the slow cooker and transfer them onto a clean plate.
Remove the onions and peppers as well, then put them on top of the sausages.
Serve with rolls or buns. Enjoy!
Notes:
Place any leftovers in an airtight container, then place them inside the fridge. They can last up to 4 days.
Feel free to use a different ingredient in exchange for beer.
