This crispy cheddar chicken is the best chicken recipe! Packed with flavor, tender chicken coated in cheddar cheese, and Ritz cracker crumbs, then baked to perfection! This dish is my family’s favorite! We love to serve this super crispy, golden brown cheddar chicken topped with a simple creamy sauce or plain. And enjoy this crispy cheddar chicken alongside your favorite pasta or mashed potatoes.
INGREDIENTS
1 tsp garlic powder
2 sleeves butter crackers, such as Ritz
2 pounds of boneless, skinless chicken tenders or breasts
1 ½ c. cheddar cheese, grated
1 tsp dried parsley
2 eggs, beaten
2 tbsp milk
½ tsp salt
¼ tsp black pepper
Sauce:
2 tbsp butter
2 tbsp sour cream
Milk, as needed
1 can cream of chicken soup
How to make Crispy Cheddar Chicken
Step 1: Prepare the oven. Preheat it to 400 degrees F. Using a nonstick spray, grease a 9 x 13-inch baking pan.
Step 2: Into two or three large pieces, slice the chicken breasts.
Step 3: In a food processor, place the cheese, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Pulse until fine crumbs.
Step 4: In a small bowl, whisk the milk and eggs. Then, transfer the cheese/cracker mixture to another bowl.
Step 5: In the egg mixture, dip the chicken pieces. Dredge in the cracker mix and coat in the crumbs.
Step 6: On the chicken, lightly spray the chicken pieces and place the chicken pieces into the prepared pan. Put in the preheated oven and bake for about 20 minutes. Then, tent using foil and resume baking for another 10 minutes or until the chicken is golden brown and crispy.
Step 7: In the meantime, heat the butter and chicken soup in a saucepan. If desired, add milk until you reach your preferred consistency.
Step 8: Remove the crispy cheddar chicken from the oven when done and serve immediately with the sauce. Enjoy!
