I love this ginger beef! It is super easy to make and ready in less than thirty minutes. This dish is made with thinly sliced beef seared until crispy, then tossed and coated in a simple garlic and ginger sauce. If you are searching for a budget-friendly dinner that your entire family will love, then this ginger beef is a must-try!
Ingredients
1 ½ c. carrots, julienned (can use grated or shredded carrots too)
1 lb skirt steak, sliced thinly (flank steak or beef tenderloin is amazing, too!)
1 c. cornstarch
1 tbsp fresh ginger, grated
1 large white onion, finely chopped
3 cloves garlic, minced
½ tsp dried red chili flakes
½ c. light soy sauce
1 tbsp sesame oil
½ tsp black pepper
2 tbsp vinegar (rice vinegar or white vinegar)
½ c. brown sugar, lightly packed
¼ c. green onions, thinly sliced
2 tbsp sesame seeds, toasted
2 tbsp vegetable oil, plus more for frying
How to make 30 Minute Ginger Beef
Step 1: In a large bowl, place the steak and cornstarch. Toss well and set aside.
Step 2: In a saucepan, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Then, add the onions and saute for about 2 minutes until translucent. Next, add the carrots and cook for another 3 to 4 minutes until tender.
Step 3: To the pan, add the garlic, ginger, and chili flakes. Stir and continue to cook for another 1 to 2 minutes.
Step 4: Next, stir in the soy sauce, vinegar, sesame oil, black pepper, brown sugar, and sesame seeds.
Step 5: Decrease the heat to a simmer and let the sauce thicken a little.
Step 6: In a deep skillet, bring 2 to 2 cups of vegetable oil to optimum frying temperature. Shake the excess cornstarch off the beef, then add them in batches to the pan. Fry for about 3 to 4 minutes until crispy. On paper towels, transfer the fried beef.
Step 7: In the sauce mixture, toss the fried beef. Before serving, garnish with some green onions. Enjoy right away!
