This Sesame Chicken is what I like to call, everyday perfection! Oh, man, once you get a bite of this luscious dish, you will surely have a day to remember! Ingredients:
oil, for deep-frying
1 clove garlic, minced
8 ounces (250 g) boneless and skinless chicken breast, cut into strips
2 tbsp oil
white sesame seeds, for garnishing
FRYING BATTER:
½ tsp baking powder
1 Egg white
¼ c cornstarch
⅓ c (80 ml) cold water
½ c (65 g) all-purpose flour, sifted
1 pinch salt
1 tbsp oil
SAUCE:
1 tbsp Chinese rice vinegar or apple
2 tbsp soy sauce
⅓ c (80 ml) water
4 tbsp sugar
cider vinegar
2 tsp corn starch
Directions:
In a mixing bowl, add all the ingredients for the sauce. Stir until well mixed.
In another mixing bowl, add all the ingredients for the batter. Whisk until well mixed.
Add the chicken into the bowl with the batter, then toss until well coated.
Place a wok on the stove and turn the heat to medium.
Add 3-inches of oil and allow it to become hot.
Add the chicken and cook until they turn golden brown. Remove from the wok onto a clean plate lined with paper towels to drain any excess oil.
Remove most of the oil from the wok and leave about 2 tbsp of it.
Add the garlic and sauté until aromatic.
Pour in the sauce and stir until well mixed. Simmer until the texture becomes thick.
Put the chicken back to the wok and toss until well coated by the delicious sauce.
Garnish each serving with sesame seeds.
Serve over rice and enjoy!
