Ingredients:
1 spring onion
2 garlic cloves, sliced
3-4 ginger slices
500 g pork belly, around 1 lb.
Honey water for brushing, 1 tbsp honey + 1 tbsp marinating sauce
Sauce
1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
¼ teaspoon five-spicy powder
1 tablespoon light soy sauce
1 tablespoon honey
1 teaspoon dark soy sauce
¼ teaspoon ground white pepper
1 tablespoon cooking wine
1 tablespoon oyster sauce
Directions:
Rinse the pork belly with water, then use paper towels to pat it dry.
Add all the ingredients for the sauce into a large mixing bowl. Stir until well blended.
Add the pork belly into the bowl with the sauce, then toss until well coated.
Place the bowl inside the fridge and marinate the pork belly for about 24 hours or 48 hours.
Prepare the oven and preheat to 400 degrees F or 200 degrees C.
Add 1 tbsp of the marinade and 1 tbsp of honey into a small mixing bowl. Stir until well blended.
Brush all sides of the pork belly with the honey mixture.
Place the pork belly inside the preheated oven and roast for about 20 minutes.
Flip the pork belly, then brush the other side with the honey mixture. Roast for 10 to 15 more minutes.
Remove from the oven and allow it to rest for a few minutes at room temperature.
Slice the pork belly into even servings.
