INGREDIENTS
2 tbsp yellow mustard
1 large fully cooked ham (bone-in, spiral sliced is fine), about 15 lbs
2 tbsp honey
1 c. packed brown sugar
½ c. orange juice
2 tbsp white vinegar
½ tsp cinnamon
½ tsp onion powder
½ tsp garlic powder
How to make Brown Sugar Glazed Ham
Step 1: Allow the ham to rest for at least 2 hours at room temperature before using.
Step 2: Prepare the oven. Preheat it to 325 degrees F.
Step 3: Place the brown sugar, orange juice, honey, white vinegar, yellow mustard, onion powder, garlic powder, and cinnamon in a small saucepan. Mix well until combined. Cook over medium heat until the sugar has dissolved and the mixture begins to simmer. Let everything simmer for about 1 to 2 minutes or until slightly thickened. Then, take the pan off the heat when done.
Step 4: Overlap two large pieces of foil, big enough to wrap the ham. In the middle of the foil, place the ham. Brush the ham with ⅓ of the glaze, then wrap it tightly in the foil.
Step 5: In a baking pan, place the ham, flat-side down. Place in the preheated oven and bake for about 15 minutes per pound of meat until the internal temperature of the center of the ham reaches 100-110 degrees F.
Step 6: Adjust the oven temperature to 400 degrees F.
Step 7: Unwrap the ham carefully and brush the ham with another ⅓ of the ham. Place it back in the oven and resume baking for another 15 to 20 minutes or until the glaze has begun to caramelize (looks dark and sticky).
Step 8: Take the ham out of the oven and brush the ham with the rest of the glaze. Cover with foil and allow the ham to rest for about 10 minutes. Then, slice and serve hot. Enjoy!
