Delicious, easy, and quick. This Pepperoni bread is a great appetizer made with simple homemade pizza dough, pepperoni, and mozzarella cheese. Serve this bread with buttered pasta and salad and marinara sauce for dipping.
Ingredients
1½ tablespoon olive oil
1 c. water (heated to 110°F)
2 teaspoons honey
3 c. shredded mozzarella
2½-3 c. all-purpose flour
2 ¼ teaspoons instant dry yeast
6 oz. package of pepperoni
Marinara sauce for dipping, if desired
1 teaspoon salt
How to make Pepperoni Bread
Step 1: To the bowl of the stand mixer with the dough hook attachment, add the warm water. Add the yeast along with the honey. Stir and let the mixture sit for about 5 minutes.
Step 2: To the stand mixer, add 2 c of flour, salt, and oil. Beat on low speed for about 3 to 4 minutes until blended. Then, gradually add the rest of the ½-1 cup of flour, mixing until smooth ball forms.
Step 3: Using plastic wrap, tent the bowl and let the dough rest for an hour.
Step 4: Prepare the oven. Preheat it to 400 degrees F.
Step 5: Into about 14 x 22-inch rectangle, roll the dough. On top of the dough, spread the shredded mozzarella, then pepperoni.
Step 4: Into a log, roll the dough, beginning from the longer side, and lay the rolled dough on a greased baking sheet. Score the top of the bread using a very sharp knife. Place in the preheated oven and bake the bread for about 25 minutes or until golden brown.
Step 5: Remove from the oven when done and let the pepperoni bread cool for about 10 minutes before slicing. Enjoy with a marinara sauce for dipping.
Tips:
You can swap pepperoni with salami or other Italian meats. You can even use spicy sausage or Barbeque chicken.
