Ingredients:
⅓ c soy sauce
½ c dry sherry
½ c Hoisin sauce
3 pounds boneless pork shoulder or butt
4 tbsp oyster sauce
½ c brown sugar
4 garlic cloves minced
2 tsp Chinese five-spice
2 tsp cornstarch
½ c honey
1-2 tsp red food colouring, optional
Directions:
Add honey, hoisin sauce, brown sugar, oyster sauce, dry sherry, red food colouring, garlic, and five-spice. Stir until well blended.
Horizontally slice the pork into three cuts.
Add the pork slices inside a large resealable bag.
Add ½ of the marinade inside the bag, then seal and shake the bag until the pork slices are well coated.
Marinade the pork slices for about a day or two for the best flavours.
Prepare the oven and preheat to 175 degrees C or 350 degrees F.
Line with aluminium foil on a baking sheet.
Remove the pork slices from the marinade, then arrange them into the prepared baking sheet.
Place them inside the preheated oven and bake for about 25 minutes.
Turn the pork slices, then bake the other side for another 25 minutes.
Place a pan on the stove and turn the heat to medium.
Pour the marinade into the pan and allow it to boil.
Turn the heat down to low, then simmer for about 10 minutes or until the texture becomes thick.
Remove the pork from the oven, then brush each with the cooked marinade.
Put them back inside the oven and broil for about 5 minutes or until done to your preference.
Remove from the oven and allow the pork to rest for a few minutes.
Serve with more sauce. Enjoy!
