1 pound ground Italian sausage, mild or spicy
1 tsp salt
¼ tsp ground black pepper
1 c grated Parmesan cheese, plus more for serving

Place a large skillet on the stove and turn the heat to medium-high.
Add 1 tbsp of butter and allow it to melt.
Add sausage, then cook for 5 minutes or until crumbly and brown.
Transfer the cooked sausage onto a clean plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.
In the same skillet, add minced garlic, water, penne pasta, salt, and pepper. Stir until well mixed, then allow the mixture to boil. Stir and slightly cook the pasta for about 7 minutes.
Add the heavy cream and chopped broccoli, then cook for about 5 minutes.
