This awesome recipe is super easy to prepare! All you need are these basic ingredients and a skillet. Leftover ham is perfect for this recipe. Ingredients:
3 cloves minced garlic
½ cup Parmesan cheese
¼ teaspoon pepper
3 cups cubed fully cooked ham
16 ounces penne noodles, uncooked
2 cups frozen peas, thawed
¼ teaspoon dried oregano
½ cup chopped yellow onion
2 cups 2% milk
1 tablespoon olive oil
¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes
½ teaspoon dried basil
½ teaspoon dried parsley
3 cups chicken broth
¼ cup flour
Directions:
Place a large skillet on the stove and turn the heat to medium.
Add 1 tablespoon of olive oil and allow it to become hot.
Add the onions and ham, then sauté for a few minutes until the ham is brown and the onions are soft.
Add garlic, oregano, red pepper flakes, basil, and parsley. Sauté for about 2 minutes or until aromatic.
Add the penne, broth, flour, and milk. Stir everything until well blended and allow it to boil.
Turn the heat down to low, then cook for about 10 to 12 minutes or until the penne noodles are al dente. Make sure to stir often.
Add the peas, then simmer for a few minutes until done. Remove from the heat.
Add Parmesan cheese over the dish.
Serve and enjoy!
Notes:
Sprinkle freshly chopped herbs on top to garnish.
Add more broth if you want more sauce.
