Ingredients:
1 package active dry yeast (equals 2 ¼ tsp)
¼ cup warm water
⅓ cup white, granulated sugar
¼ cup butter, softened
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup hot milk
1 Egg, lightly beaten
4 ½ cups sifted all-purpose flour
2 Tablespoons butter, melted (for brushing rolls)
Directions:
Step 1: In a large mixing bowl, add warm water and yeast. Stir until well mixed. Allow the yeast to rise for 10 minutes.
Step 2: In another mixing bowl, add hot milk, sugar, ¼ cup of butter, and salt. Stir until well combined. Allow the mixture to cool at room temperature.
Step 3: Pour the milk mixture into the risen yeast as well as one egg and flour. Beat until well combined.
Step 4: Brush with melted butter in a mixing bowl, then transfer the dough into it. Cover and allow the dough to double its size for 1 hour 30 minutes.
Step 5: Knead the dough and slice it into four cuts.
Step 6: Slice each cut into four.
Step 7: Form small balls out of the sliced dough.
Step 8: Brush with butter a 13x9x2-inch baking pan.
Step 9: Arrange the balls onto the prepared baking pan.
Step 10: Cover the balls again and allow them to rise for another 30 minutes.
Step 11: Place them inside the oven and bake for 20 minutes at 190 degrees C or 375 degrees F.
Step 12: Remove from the oven and burhs melted butter over each roll.
