Ingredients:
2-4 chicken breasts (bone-in with skin) or 1 whole 3 pounds chicken
1 stick butter
2 package chicken bouillon (or 2 spoonfuls)
DUMPLINGS:
1 stick butter, melted
3 large Eggs
½ cup milk, 2%
5 cups all-purpose flour, divided
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon pepper
2 drops of yellow food colouring (or substitute a pinch of Turmeric)
Directions:
To Make the Chicken and Broth:
Step 1: Put the whole chicken or chicken breast in a Dutch oven.
Step 2: Pour enough water to submerge the chicken.
Step 3: Add in chicken bouillon and 1 stick of butter.
Step 4: Place the Dutch oven on the stove and turn the heat to medium. Cook for 45 minutes or until the chicken is soft and tender.
Step 5: Remove the chicken and place it in a bowl. Set aside to cool.
Step 6: Discard of the chicken skin and bones.
Step 7: Chop the chicken into small cuts.
To Make the Dumplings:
Step 1: In a medium bowl, add the eggs and melted butter. Beat until well mixed.
Step 2: Add 6 tablespoons of milk, salt, and pepper.
Step 3: Add in 3 cups of flour and whisk until well mixed.
Step 4: Add three or more drops of yellow food colouring and stir until well blended.
Step 5: Sprinkle 2 cups of flour on a flat surface.
Step 6: Place 1 cup of the mixture in the middle of the flour. Use your hands to mix all the ingredients.
Step 7: Roll into thin pieces.
Step 8: Slice the dough into strips using a pizza cutter.
Step 9: Drop the strips into the broth and allow it to boil.
Step 10: Reduce the heat to low and make the second batch of the strips. Repeat this procedure to the next batch.
Step 11: Put the chicken back into the Dutch oven and stir until well mixed.
Step 12: Remove from the heat and cover. Leave it for 10 minutes.
Step 13: Serve and enjoy!
