Ingredients:
½ cup unsalted butter
1 ½ cups packed, brown sugar
4 cups of water
½ cup flour
1 cup of sugar
½ teaspoon salt
2 cups of milk
2 Egg yolks, beaten
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 – (9”) pie crusts, baked
Directions:
Step 1: Place a saucepan on the stove and add in the brown sugar and butter. Stir until well mixed.
Step 2: Turn the heat to medium and cook until the colour turns lightly golden.
Step 3: Add in water and cook for another 10 minutes while stirring gradually.
Step 4: In a medium mixing bowl, add the sugar, flour, and salt. Whisk until well mixed.
Step 5: Place another saucepan on the stove and add in the milk.
Step 6: Turn the heat to low and allow the milk to become warm.
Step 7: Add in the egg yolks and whisk until well blended.
Step 8: Transfer the milk-egg mixture into the flour mixture and stir until well combined.
Step 9: Transfer the two mixtures into the butter-sugar mixture. Stir over medium heat for 20 to 35 minutes or until thick.
Step 10: Remove from the heat and add in the vanilla extract. Stir until well blended.
Step 11: Transfer the mixture into the pie crusts.
Step 12: Place them inside the fridge to chill for at least 2 to 3 hours.
Step 13: Serve with whipped cream. Enjoy!
