This amazing treatment will surely make your day extra special. It tastes like the one I buy at this Pastry Shop downtown. I am so glad that I decided to give this recipe a try because I never would have tasted perfection that I made myself! Ingredients:
1 large Egg
1 ½ cup buttermilk
¼ cup Crisco vegetable oil
2 cups self-rising enriched white cornmeal mix
¼ cup oil for skillet
Directions:
Step 1: Prepare the oven and preheat to 450 degrees F.
Step 2: Apply cooking spray in an 8-inch ovenproof skillet.
Step 3: Place the skillet inside the preheated oven and let it sit inside for 7 to 8 minutes or until hot.
Step 4: In a small mixing bowl, add cracked egg and beat until creamy.
Step 5: Add milk, cornmeal, and oil. Stir until well mixed creamy. Add more tablespoons of milk if it gets too thick.
Step 6: Transfer the mixture into the prepared pan or skillet.
Step 7: Place it inside the preheated oven and bake for 20 to 25 minutes or until the colour turns golden brown.
Step 8: Remove from the oven and let it sit on a wire rack to cool at room temperature.
Step 9: Serve and enjoy!
