I think it is the bacon that did the trick. For a hearty, filling weeknight meal, I like to serve this Fried Cabbage with Bacon, Onion, and Garlic with just about anything. But this is also great on its own.
Ingredients
3 tablespoons butter
1 onion, diced
4 strips thick-cut bacon, diced
6 cloves garlic, diced
1 teaspoon Celtic sea salt
1 head cabbage, diced
HOW TO MAKE FRIED CABBAGE WITH BACON ONION AND GARLIC
Step 1: Into thick pieces, cut the bacon and fry until crunchy. Set the bacon aside.
Step 2: Melt the butter in a large pan over medium-high heat. Once melted, add the diced onions to the pan and saute for about 4 minutes or until tender and transparent.
Step 3: To the pan with the onions, add the garlic and cook for another 3 minutes or until soft and aromatic. Next, add the cabbage and mix well. To taste, season with salt.
Step 4: Cook the cabbage for about 10 minutes to reduce it by half while stirring until evenly cooked. Return the bacon to the pan. Cook further until the cabbage is translucent with browned bits.
Step 5: Remove from the heat when done, and serve the cabbage with bacon onion, and garlic right away. Enjoy!
