What are Meatball Sub Cupcakes?
These miniature meatball sub cupcakes are the perfect party appetizer! Made with ground beef, and Italian seasoning, and topped with mozzarella cheese and marinara sauce, they’re bite-sized and oh-so-delicious.
How to Make a Meatball Sub Cupcake
Assuming you have your cupcake batter and meatballs already prepared, you will first want to preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Next, using a small cookie scoop or spoon, place a ball of batter into each cupcake liner, filling it about halfway. Then, take a meatball and gently press it into the center of the batter. Be sure not to press it all the way to the bottom of the liner.
Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Allow cooling for a few minutes before removing from the pan and serving. Serve warm with your favorite marinara sauce for dipping!
Tips for Making the Best Meatball Sub Cupcakes (Or check directly the Recipe below)
For the best meatball sub cupcakes, start with a good quality meatball. Look for one that is made with ground beef and pork, and has a nice balance of spices. If you can find a recipe that includes bread crumbs, that is even better.
Once you have your meatballs, it is time to start assembling your cupcakes. Begin by preheating your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Line a muffin tin with paper liners and set it aside.
In a large bowl, combine the beef and pork meatballs with the bread crumbs, eggs, Parmesan cheese, garlic, salt, and pepper. Mix everything together well so that the ingredients are evenly distributed.
Use a cookie scoop or spoon to portion out the mixture into the prepared muffin tin. Each cupcake liner should be about two-thirds full.
Bake the meatballs for 25-30 minutes, or until they are cooked through. While the meatballs are baking, prepare the tomato sauce by simmering it on the stove over low heat.
Once the meatballs are done cooking, let them cool for a few minutes before spooning some tomato sauce over each one. Serve immediately or store in an airtight container in the fridge for later.
