These Pretzels taste like those you but in malls maybe even better! Everyone loves a nice tasting pretzel, right? You can’t go wrong with these twisty treats. Give it a try and feel free to add more ingredients if you wish. Enjoy!
Ingredients:
1 (.25 ounce) package active dry yeast
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 ⅛ teaspoons salt
1 ½ cups warm water (110 degrees F/45 degrees C)
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup bread flour
2 cups warm water (110 degrees F/45 degrees C)
2 tablespoons baking soda
2 tablespoons butter, melted
2 tablespoons coarse kosher salt
Directions:
Step 1: In a large mixing bowl, add the brown sugar, 1 ½ cups of warm water, and yeast. Stir until the yeast and sugar are dissolved completely.
Step 2: Add in the flour and stir until well mixed.
Step 3: Place the dough on a flat surface and knead for about 8 minutes or until stretchy and smooth.
Step 4: Apply cooking spray in a mixing bowl.
Step 5: Place the dough into the greased bowl and cover to rise to about 1 hour.
Step 6: In an 8-inch square pan, add baking soda and 2 cups of warm water. Stir until well mixed.
Step 7: Line with parchment paper 6 baking sheets.
Step 8: Cut the dough into 12 evenly pieces.
Step 9: Roll each piece of dough into 3-foot pencil-thin ropes.
Step 10: Twist the dough to form a pretzel shape and dip each into the baking soda solution. Place the dipped doughs into the prepared baking sheets and allow it to rise for about 15 to 20 minutes.
Step 11: Prepare the oven and preheat to 230 degrees C or 450 degrees F.
Step 12: Place the baking sheets inside the preheated oven and bake for 8 to 10 minutes or until the colour turns golden brown.
Step 13: Remove from the oven and brush each pretzel with melted butter, then sprinkle garlic salt, coarse salt, and sugar.
Step 14: Serve and enjoy!
Notes:
Roll each rope into half its length and set aside, then roll the rest. This will be easier to form the ropes into pretzels.
