Ingredients:
For The Sauce:
2 tablespoons Extra Virgin Olive Oil
1 Organic Onion, finely chopped (½ cup)
3 Cloves Organic Garlic, finely chopped
5 c Marinara Sauce (about 46 ounces)
1–2 tsp Sea Salt
Freshly ground black pepper
1 lb dried ziti or penne pasta
1 c Whole Milk Ricotta Cheese
1 Organic Egg
½ c Freshly Grated Parmesan Cheese
8 ounces Freshly Grated Whole Milk Organic Mozzarella Cheese
8–12 slices Provolone cheese from the deli counter
Directions:
Step 1: Prepare the oven and preheat to 375 degrees F.
Step 2: Place a large skillet on the stove and turn the heat to medium-high.
Step 3: Add in 2 tablespoons of oil and allow it to become hot.
Step 4: Add in the onion and sauté for 2 minutes or until translucent.
Step 5: Add in the garlic and sprinkle salt and pepper to taste. Saute the garlic for a minute or until aromatic.
Step 6: Add in the marinara sauce and allow the mixture to become hot.
Step 7: To cook the pasta, refer to the directions provided on the package. Drain and rinse with cold water to stop the cooking process.
Step 8: In a small mixing bowl, add in the egg, Parmesan cheese sugar, and ricotta cheese. Whisk until well combined.
Step 9: Brush about 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a 9×13-inch pan.
Step 10: Spread ½ of the cooked pasta into the prepared pan followed by ½ of the sauce and dollops of ricotta cheese.
Step 11: Place 4 to 6 slices of Provolone cheese and Mozzarella cheese on top.
Step 12: Repeat steps 10 and 11 until all the ingredients are arranged in layers.
Step 13: Sprinkle a generous amount of Parmesan cheese on top.
Step 14: Place it inside the preheated oven and bake for 30 minutes.
Step 15: Broil for a few minutes until brown and bubbly.
Step 16: Remove from the oven and allow it to cool at room temperature.
Step 17: Serve and enjoy!
