Ingredients:
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
2 cloves garlic, minced
½ small green bell pepper, diced
½ c ketchup
1 small sweet onion, diced
1 tbsp tomato paste
1 lb. lean ground beef
½ tsp kosher salt
¼ tsp black pepper
⅓ c water
1 tbsp brown sugar
2 tsp yellow mustard
Toasted buns, for serving
1 tbsp extra-virgin olive oil
¼ tsp red pepper flakes
Directions:
Place a large non-stick skillet on the stove and turn the heat to medium-high.
Add oil and allow it to become hot.
Add the ground beef, then cook for a few minutes until crumbly and brown.
Add the bell pepper and onion, then sauté for a few more minutes until soft.
Add garlic, then sauté for 30 seconds or until aromatic. Remove any excess fat.
Add the tomato paste, then stir and cook for about a minute to remove the raw taste.
Add water, mustard, ketchup, salt, pepper, red pepper flakes, brown sugar, and Worcestershire sauce. Stir until well blended. Cook the mixture for another 10 minutes or until the texture becomes thick.
Serve right away on toasted buns. Enjoy!
Notes:
You can freeze these sloppy joes! Make sure to cool them at room temperature, then place them in an airtight container. Put them inside the freezer. They can last up to 3 months. Thaw and reheat in the microwave or oven. Serve!
You can use a Crockpot to make these Sloppy Joes. Cook everything in the skillet first, then transfer them into a crockpot.
Cook for about 4 hours on a low setting or 2 hours on a high setting.
