If you love restaurant recipes hack, this is for you! Making homemade salsa at home is incredibly easy. All you need are just a couple of simple, inexpensive ingredients. For this recipe, I use canned tomatoes for that true restaurant salsa flavor. If you prefer chunkier salsa, that’s easy. You just blend the ingredients for a shorter time.
Ingredients
½ red onion, roughly chopped
3-4 cloves, smashed garlic
2 cans fire-roasted diced tomatoes
½ tsp cumin
1 jalapeno, ribs, and seeds removed
2 limes, juice
Large pinch of fresh cracked pepper
A couple of large pinches of kosher salt
1 c. fresh cilantro leaves
Pinch cayenne pepper
HOW TO MAKE HOMEMADE SALSA EVER RESTAURANT STYLE
Step 1: Into a high-speed blender, combine all the ingredients for about 1 minute until everything is blended.
Step 2: Serve the salsa right away with your preferred tortilla chips. Enjoy!
Tips:
For a thicker salsa, make sure to drain the juices from the canned tomatoes before blending. Or you can mix the liquids with the tomatoes and other ingredients for a smooth texture.
Blend the ingredients for a shorter time for a chunkier salsa. Decrease the mixing time, if you prefer bits of tomato and onion. To achieve your desired consistency, give the ingredients a few fast pulses.
I make this salsa for a day or two and store it in the fridge. I like it more that way as the flavors develop as the salsa rest.
Before serving, add more salt to the salsa to taste if it has been sitting in the fridge for a couple of days.
Store this salsa in the fridge for up to 5 days.
