The slow cooker makes this dish ridiculously easy, making it ideal for the colder months. This meal can be served one of two ways. Spoon some onto a dish and eat it as is, or skewer some kielbasa and pineapple chunks onto a toothpick and serve them as an appetizer on a platter. To prevent them from drying out, skewer them all before basting them with some of the glazes using a basting brush. If you want to use toothpicks, you’ll need twice as much pineapple as there won’t be enough slices to go around!
To make this dish, you’ll need a single box of Hillshire Farm® Polska Kielbasa, a lot of brown sugar, and a can of pineapple rings. Simple, basic ingredients, all in all! Brown sugar is optional and may be reduced to taste, but I like to use it a lot because it dissolves easily and is the main ingredient in the glaze. And I always like having extra glaze to drizzle over rice or my favorite side.
One of my all-time favorite meals is this Glazed Hawaiian Kielbasa. It’s great for parties. With just three ingredients and hardly more than five minutes of work, this is the simplest dinner ever! And because I’m too lazy to turn on the oven, I make mine in the crock pot and forget about it!
INGREDIENTS
1 can sliced pineapples rings, cut into 8 pieces
1 2.62 pounds Hillshire Farm® Polska Kielbasa, sliced into ½-inch pieces
4 tablespoons maple syrup
3 c. light brown sugar
How to make Glazed Hawaiian Kielbasa
Step 1: Into a slow cooker, place the sliced kielbasa, brown sugar, cut pineapple pieces, and maple syrup. Gently stir.
Step 2: Set to cook for 5 to 6 hours on low or until the kielbasa is completely cooked. You can also cook for 2-2 ½ hours on high.
NOTE:
Skewered the kielbasa onto skewers if serving this dish as an appetizer. You need an extra can of pineapple for this.
