Ingredients:
1 2-inch (2cm to 5cm) piece ginger
1 tbsp chopped scallions
2 tbsp cooking oil
1 tbsp corn starch
12 ounces (340 g) halibut fish fillet or other white fish
Sauce:
1 tsp sesame oil
1 tbsp sugar
3 dashes of ground white pepper
2 tbsp water
2 tbsp soy sauce
Directions:
Slice the fish into small cuts.
Sprinkle cornstarch over the fish slices, then toss until well coated.
Peel and slice the ginger into thin cuts.
In a mixing bowl, add all the ingredients for the sauce. (Sesame oil, sugar, white pepper, water, and soy sauce.) Stir everything until well blended and the sugar has dissolved completely.
Place a non-stick skillet on the stove and turn the heat to medium-high.
Add oil and allow it to become hot.
Add the ginger into the hot skillet, then sauté for a few minutes until aromatic and lightly brown. Transfer the ginger into a clean bowl.
In the same skillet with the ginger-flavored oil, add the fish and cook for a few minutes until all sides turn golden brown. Take good care of the fish when flipping it. You don’t want to break it.
Pour the sauce over the fish and allow it to boil. Remove from the heat.
Add scallions and sauteed ginger strips over the fish.
Serve right away over rice. Enjoy!
Note:
Make sure to add more ingredients according to the number of people you are serving for.
