I am a meat person, but after eating this delicious Fried Green Tomato Parmesan, I no longer need meat in a dish to make it awesome! You are going to love this if you are a fan of cheese and tomatoes. Well, who isn’t? Give it a try, and thank me later. Enjoy!
Ingredients:
2 large eggs
4 cups Italian seasoned bread crumbs
10 medium (blank)s green tomatoes, sliced ½-inch thick
6 cups spaghetti sauce, divided
1 (16 ounces) package shredded mozzarella cheese, divided
½ cup grated Parmesan cheese, divided
½ teaspoon dried basil
Directions:
Step 1: Prepare the oven and preheat to 175 degrees C or 350 degrees F.
Step 2: In a small mixing bowl, add in the eggs and beat until smooth.
Step 3: In a shallow dish, add in the bread crumbs.
Step 4: Dip the tomato slices into the beaten egg then drop into the crumbs to coat.
Step 5: Place and arrange the coated tomatoes onto the prepared baking sheets.
Step 6: Place inside the preheated oven and bake for 5 minutes on both sides or until the color turns golden brown.
Step 7: Pour in 3 cups of spaghetti sauce into a 9×13-inch baking dish. Spread evenly on the bottom. Place tomato slices on top of the sauce.
Step 8: Sprinkle half of the Parmesan and mozzarella cheese on top of the tomatoes. Repeat this step until all the tomatoes and cheeses are perfectly layered, then sprinkle basil over.
Step 9: Place inside the preheated oven and bake for 35 minutes or until golden brown.
Step 10: Remove from the oven and let it sit at room temperature to cool.
Step 11: Serve and enjoy!
