Ingredients:
2 tbsp beef base (such as better than bullion), divided
2 lbs. ground beef
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce, divided
8 tbsp (1 stick) butter, divided
2 tbsp sesame seeds
2 large sweet onions, sliced
1 tbsp fresh thyme
1 tsp onion powder
12–16 oz. gruyere or Swiss cheese, shredded
1 tsp garlic powder
Kosher salt and black pepper, to taste
24 slider buns
Directions:
Place a skillet on the stove and turn the heat to medium.
Add 2 tbsp of butter and allow it to melt.
Add the onions, then cook for about 25 minutes or until caramelized. Add a bit of water if the onions become too dry.
In a mixing bowl, add ½ of beef base, ½ Worcestershire sauce, ground beef, salt, and pepper. Stir until well mixed.
Add the meat mixture into the skillet with the onions, then cook until crumbly and brown. Discard accumulated fat.
Prepare the oven and preheat to 175 degrees C or 350 degrees F.
Apply cooking spray onto a large baking sheet.
Arrange the bottom part of the buns onto the prepared baking sheet.
Top each bun with the beef mixture and spread it evenly.
Sprinkle a generous amount of gruyere cheese over each bun.
Add the rest of the beef base and butter into a heat-proof bowl, then place it inside the microwave. Heat until the butter is melted. Stir until well blended.
Brush each bun with the butter mixture, then top each with thyme, onion powder, garlic powder, and sesame seeds.
Place them inside the preheated oven and bake for 20 minutes or until done.
Remove from the oven and allow them to rest for a few minutes at room temperature.
Serve warm and enjoy!
