I love a classic dish and these baked wontons with cream cheese are one of my favorites! They are a great appetizer served with a sweet tangy sauce. Enjoy crispy wonton filled with gooey seasoned cream cheese any time with this easy recipe!
Ingredients
vegetable oil
8 ounces of cream cheese, softened
3 tablespoons chopped green onions
1 teaspoon sugar
1 tablespoon minced sweet onions
¼ teaspoon salt
20 wonton wrappers
3 tablespoons Thai sweet chili sauce
1 egg
How to make Baked Cream Cheese Wontons
Step 1: Place the softened cream cheese, chopped green onions, minced sweet onions, sugar, and salt in a large bowl. Mix well until combined.
Step 2: Into a small bowl, whisk the egg and set aside.
Step 3: Onto the middle of a wonton wrapper, spoon 1 tbsp of the cream cheese mixture, making sure not to overfill the wrapper. With the egg wash, brush all four sides of the wonton wrapper.
Step 4: Press two opposite corners to each other. To the middle, bring the other two opposite corners, pressing the sides to seal and close the seams.
Step 5: Do the same steps for the remaining cream cheese mixture.
Step 6: Prepare the oven. Preheat it to 400 degrees F.
Step 7: On a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or aluminum foil, arrange the wontons (brushed or sprayed with vegetable oil).
Step 8: Place in the preheated oven and bake for about 7 to 8 minutes. Take the baking sheet out of the oven when done and allow the wontons to cool for about 10 minutes before serving.
Step 9: Enjoy the Baked Cream Cheese Wontons with Thai sweet chili sauce!
Notes:
You can also make these wontons in an air fryer. Place them in the air fryer, making sure not to overlap or overcrowd, and cook for 5 to 7 minutes at 350 degrees F.
