This orange chicken stir fry is my family’s newest favorite! This easy dish has pieces of tender chicken stir-fried with onions and peppers, then tossed in a delicious homemade Asian orange sauce. This easy recipe is a must-try!
Ingredients
2 tablespoons Olive Oil, divided
1” Ginger thumb size, fresh, chopped
1 pound Chicken Breast, boneless, skinless, cut into bite-size pieces
½ teaspoon Garlic Powder
¼ teaspoon Chili Flakes
⅓ c. Fresh Orange Juice
1 Large Bell Pepper, chopped into bite-sized pieces
1 Purple Onion, chopped
¼ c. Low-sodium soy sauce or coconut aminos
1 tablespoon Sliced Scallions or green onions
1 teaspoon Sesame Seeds
1½ tablespoons Cornstarch
Orange slices to garnish optional
Sea salt and pepper, to taste
How to make Easy Orange Chicken Stir Fry
Step 1: In a large non-stick pan, heat 1 tbsp oil over medium heat. Once hot, add the chicken to the pan and sprinkle with garlic powder, chili flakes sea salt, and pepper. Cook the chicken until golden brown and completely cooked, stirring often. Then, transfer to a plate and set aside.
Step 2: Add the rest of the oil to the now-empty skillet. Add the ginger, bell pepper, and onion. Stir fry for about 2 to 3 minutes.
Step 3: Place the orange juice, soy sauce, and cornstarch in a small bowl. Mix well until blended. Over the stir-fried veggies, pour the sauce and stir well, deglazing the pan to release the brown bits from the bottom.
Step 4: Into the pan, place the chicken back, and spoon the sauce over. Continue to cook for a couple of minutes more until heated through.
Step 5: Remove from the heat when done and serve the orange chicken stir fry immediately, garnished with some sliced scallions, sesame seeds, and orange slices. Enjoy!

Substitutes:
You can use shrimp instead of chicken if desired.
You can swap cornstarch with tapioca or arrowroot flour.
Feel free to use avocado oil instead of olive oil.
Storage:
In a container, store any leftovers and keep them in the fridge for up to 3 days. When ready to serve, reheat in the microwave. Or store in the freezer for up to 3 months.
