You can adjust the heat according to your preference. As for me, I prefer the stated amount in this recipe. Ingredients
1 tbsp olive oil
1 lb raw shrimp (deveined, cleaned, tail removed)
8 oz. penne pasta
2 tbsp Cajun seasoning
1 tbsp butter
½ c. Parmesan cheese (finely grated from a block)
1 c. heavy cream
1 tbsp kosher salt
How to make Cajun Shrimp Pasta
Step 1: Following the package directions, cook the pasta in a large pot with salted boiling water until al dente. Reserve about a half cup of the pasta water and drain the rest. Set the pasta aside.
Step 2: In the meantime, place the shrimp, Cajun seasoning, and olive oil in a bowl. Toss well to coat the shrimp.
Step 3: Melt the butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once the butter has melted, add the shrimp in one layer and cook until both sides are golden brown, flipping only once. To a clean plate, transfer the cooked shrimp. Then, adjust the heat to medium-low.
Step 4: In the same pan, add the heavy cream. Deglaze the pan and let the heavy cream bubble. Adjust the heat to low, then whisk in the Parmesan cheese. Add the pasta and return the shrimp to the pan. Stir well. You can add the pasta water to thin out the sauce, 1 tbsp at a time until you have reached your desired consistency.
Notes:
If using store-bought Cajun seasoning, start adding a small amount, then adjust according to taste.
