Ingredients:
½ c ketchup
2 tsp yellow mustard
1 tbsp tomato paste
1 lb. lean ground beef
½ tsp kosher salt
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
¼ tsp red pepper flakes
2 cloves garlic, minced
½ small green bell pepper, diced
⅓ c water
1 small sweet onion, diced
1 tbsp brown sugar
Toasted buns, for serving
¼ tsp black pepper
1 tbsp extra-virgin olive oil
Directions:
Place a large non-stick skillet on the stove and turn the heat to medium-high. Add oil and allow it to become hot.
Add the ground beef, then cook for a few minutes until crumbly and brown.
Add the bell pepper and onion, then sauté the veggies for about 3 minutes until soft.
Stir in the garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds or until aromatic. Remove any grease from the skillet.
Add the tomato paste, then stir and cook for about a minute.
Add mustard, salt, pepper, ketchup, brown sugar, red pepper flakes, water, and Worcestershire sauce. Stir and cook for about 10 minutes. Remove from the heat.
Serve on toasted buns. Enjoy!
Crockpot Method:
Sauté all the ingredients in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Transfer them into the crockpot.
Cover the crockpot and cook everything for about 4 hours on a low setting or 2 hours on a high setting. Enjoy!
Notes:
Place any leftovers in an airtight container, then put them in the fridge or freezer. They can last up to 3 months.
Thaw in the fridge or at room temperature before reheating.
