How to make Crispy Sesame Chicken with a Sticky Asian Sauce
Step 1: In a wok or large frying pan, heat the oil.
Step 2: In a shallow bowl, add the egg. In another shallow bowl, place the cornflour. In a third shallow bowl, combine the flour, salt, pepper, garlic salt, and paprika.
Step 3: In the flour, dredge the chicken. Dip the chicken in the egg, making sure the chicken is completely covered, then coat in the seasoned flour. To the hot oil, add the breaded chicken and cook for about 6 to 7 minutes over high heat, flipping twice or thrice during the cooking time until well browned. I recommend cooking the chicken in batches to avoid overcrowding the pan. In a bowl lined with kitchen towels, transfer the cooked chicken.
Step 4: To the hot wok, add the sauce ingredients. Stir and cook for about 2 to 3 minutes over high heat until the sauce has reduced by a third. Then, return the chicken to the wok and toss it to coat. Continue to cook for another 1 to 2 minutes.
Step 5: Turn the heat off and evenly divide the chicken between four bowls and serve immediately with boiled rice garnished with some sesame seeds and spring onions. Enjoy!
NOTES:
If you prefer extra sauce, double the sauce ingredients.
This dish is excellent to serve with Boiled rice or fried rice.
