Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day. I always make sure to serve a filling breakfast to jump-start my day. This Biscuits and Gravy Casserole has been one of my go-to breakfasts. It is very comforting, delicious, and easy to make. I make this casserole in advance to save time. If you love the classic biscuit and gravy, you’ll love this version more! It is a quicker and super comforting breakfast. Creamy, incredibly savory, and every bite is laced with goodness! Serve this casserole piping hot to start your day right!
INGREDIENTS
1 pound ground breakfast sausage
1 can of refrigerated flaky biscuits
2 ½ c. whole milk
4 tbsp flour
1 tsp kosher salt
½-1 tsp freshly ground black pepper
How to make Biscuits and Gravy Casserole
Step 1: Prepare the oven. Preheat it to 400 degrees F. Ready a baking dish. Grease and set aside. For this recipe, you can also use an 8 x 10-inch baking dish.
Step 2: Into quarters, cut each biscuit. In the bottom of the prepared pan, layer half of the quarters. Place in the preheated oven and bake for about 10 minutes. Set aside when done.
Step 3: Cook the ground sausage in a large skillet until completely cooked. Then, sprinkle in the flour and continue to cook for another 1 to 2 minutes, stirring using a wooden spoon.
Step 4: Gradually whisk in the milk on medium heat and cook further until the mixture comes to a low coil and begins to thicken, stirring often. To taste, season with salt and black pepper.
Step 5: Over the cooked biscuits, pour the gravy. On top, layer the rest of the biscuit. Return to the oven and resume baking for another 14 to 18 minutes until golden brown.
Step 6: Remove from the oven when done and serve the casserole immediately. Enjoy!
