I love this classic beef and broccoli stir fry! The steak and veggies are tossed and coated in a savory sauce. This dish is an amazingly healthy, easy, and quick dinner excellent for the whole family!
INGREDIENTS
1 tsp minced garlic
1 ¼ pound flank steak thinly sliced
2 tsp minced fresh ginger
2 c. broccoli florets
¼ c. oyster sauce
1 tbsp + 1 tsp vegetable oil, divided use
1 tsp sugar
1 tsp soy sauce
1 tsp cornstarch
¼ c. beef broth or water
salt and pepper to taste
2 tsp toasted sesame oil
How to make Beef and Broccoli Stir Fry
Step 1: In a large frying pan, heat 1 tbsp oil over medium heat. Once hot, add the broccoli and saute for about 4 minutes until tender. Then, add the ginger along with the garlic. Continue to cook for another 30 seconds. To a plate, transfer the broccoli. Tent and set aside.
Step 2: Using a paper towel, wipe the pan clean and set the heat to high. Into the pan, drizzle the rest of the oil.
Step 3: With salt and pepper, season the pieces of steak. Into the pan, add the steak in one layer (in batches) and sear for about 3 to 4 minutes per side until completely cooked and browned.
Step 4: Return the broccoli to the pan and continue to cook for another 2 minutes until warmed through.
Step 5: Place the oyster sauce, beef broth, sugar, sesame oil, and soy sauce in a bowl. Mix well until blended.
Step 6: Whisk the cornstarch with 1 tbsp cold water in a small bowl until the lumps are gone.
Step 7: Over the beef and veggies, pour the oyster sauce and continue to cook for 30 seconds more. Then, stir the slurry and bring everything to a boil. Cook for another minute or until the sauce has just begun to thicken.
Step 8: Serve the beef and broccoli stir fry right away with rice. Enjoy!
