INGREDIENTS
2 eggs, room temperature slightly beaten
1 c. warm milk (110 degrees F/45 degrees C)
⅓ c. margarine, melted
4 ½ c. bread flour
½ c. white sugar
2 ½ tsp bread machine yeast – regular yeast if you make the dough without a machine
1 tsp salt
⅓ c. butter, softened
1 c. brown sugar, packed
2 ½ tbsp ground cinnamon
HOW TO MAKE CINNABON COPYCAT
Step 1: You can use a bread machine to make the dough, a hand mixer, or a kitchen, aid. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions if using a bread machine.
Step 2: To make the dough yourself, first add the yeast to a warm/hot (at least 100 degrees F) milk mix. Then, add the egg along with the margarine, salt, sugar, and flour. Mix and knead the dough well. In the meantime, prepare the oven and preheat it to 200 degrees F. Then, turn the oven off once the dough is ready. Place the dough in the oven and let it sit there for an hour until the dough doubles in size.
Step 3: Meanwhile, ready the cream cheese frosting and place it in the fridge until ready to use.
Step 4: Prepare your prep area. Clean and dry it and sprinkle it with flour. Turn out the dough on the prepared surface. Tent it with a towel and let it rest for about 10 minutes. Then, roll the dough into a 16 x 21 triangle.
Step 5: On top of the dough, spread the melted butter and evenly sprinkle with the cinnamon sugar mix. Make sure to leave about ¼-inch space on the outside long edge.
Step 6: Using dental floss, wrap the dough under, cross, and pull it to cut it into 12 equal pieces. Ready a 9 x 13-inch baking pan or glass dish. Lightly grease. Tent the rolls and let them sit until they double the size.
Step 7: Place in the oven and bake for about 12 to 20 minutes at 400 degrees F.
Step 8: On the rolls after baking, spread the frosting. Let the rolls cool before adding extra frosting.
Step 9: Serve and enjoy!
