Ingredients:
FOR CHILI OIL
½ cup vegetable oil
1 tablespoon Sichuan peppercorns
2 tablespoons crushed red pepper flakes
1 tablespoon sesame seeds
½ teaspoon Chinese five-spice powder
FOR PORK
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
¾ pound ground pork
1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
1 tablespoon Chinese black vinegar
2 teaspoons soy sauce
FOR SAUCE
⅓ cup tahini
3 tablespoons water
3 cloves garlic, minced
2 tablespoons soy sauce
2 tablespoons freshly grated ginger
2 tablespoons prepared chilli oil
1 tablespoon honey
1 tablespoon toasted sesame oil
1 tablespoon Chinese black vinegar
FOR SERVING
1 pound ramen noodles or thick egg noodles
¼ cup loosely packed cilantro leaves
¼ cup toasted peanuts, roughly chopped
2 green onions, thinly sliced
Directions:
To Make the Chili Oil:
Step 1: Place a small saucepan on the stove and turn the heat to about 325 degrees F.
Step 2: Add vegetable oil and the Sichuan peppercorns and allow them to become hot.
Step 3: Remove the saucepan from the heat and add the five-spice powder, red pepper flakes, and sesame seeds. Cook until done.
For the Pork:
Step 1: Place a large skillet on the stove and turn the heat to medium-high.
Step 2: Add the vegetable oil and allow it to become hot.
Step 3: Add the pork and cook until crumbly and brown.
Step 4: Add the hoisin sauce, soy sauce, and vinegar. Stir and cook until the liquid evaporates completely.
For the Sauce:
Step 1: Add all the ingredients for the sauce in a large mixing bowl. Whisk until well combined.
Step 2: Refer to the directions provided on the package of the noodles on how to cool them.
Step 3: Transfer the cooked noodles into the bowl with the sauce and toss until well coated.
Step 4: Spoon the noodles into serving plates and put pork over each serving.
