Ingredients
2 egg yolks
300 grams/10 ounces fresh green asparagus Washed and woody ends trimmed off
400 grams/14 ounces puff pastry thawed
250 grams/about 1 c. plain cream cheese
2 teaspoons fresh thyme leaves
50 grams/about ½ c. Parmesan cheese, grated (add as much or as little as you prefer)
zest of 1 lemon
1 egg, beaten
salt and pepper to taste
How to make Cheesy puff pastry asparagus tart
Step 1: Prepare the oven. Preheat it to 220 degrees C or 430 degrees F. Using baking or parchment paper, line a baking sheet.
Step 2: Mix the cream cheese with egg yolks, Parmesan, thyme, lemon zest, salt, and pepper to make the cheese mixture. Set aside.
Step 3: Into a large rectangle, gently roll the puff pastry (to fit the baking sheet). Around the edges, score a border, making sure not to cut through the pastry.
Step 4: Onto the puff pastry, spread the cream cheese. On top, place the asparagus. To taste, season with salt and pepper. With the beaten egg, brush the edges of the pastry.
Step 5: Into the preheated oven, place the tart and bake for about 15 to 20 minutes or until the pastry is cooked through and golden.
Step 6: When done, take the tart out of the oven and let it cool for about 5 to 10 minutes.
Step 7: Slice the tart and serve. Enjoy!
