Ingredients:
Apple Cake:
1 spice cake mix
¾ c apple sauce
½ c milk
4 Eggs
⅓ c oil
2 apples, peeled and chopped
Caramel Mousse:
8 ounces cream cheese, softened
1 c powdered sugar
16 ounces whipped topping, thawed
1 c caramel dip or caramel ice cream topping, I used Marzetti Old Fashioned Caramel Dip
Toppings:
½ c caramel dip or caramel ice cream topping, I used Marzetti Old Fashioned Caramel Dip
½ c toasted pecans
Directions:
To Make the Apple Cake:
Step 1: In a medium mixing bowl, add the milk, eggs, cake mix, oil, and apple mix. Whisk until well combined.
Step 2: Add in the chopped apples and stir until well mixed.
Step 3: Transfer the batter into two round cake pans greased with baking spray.
Step 4: Place them inside the oven and bake for 25 to 30 minutes at 350 degrees F.
Step 5: Remove the cakes from the oven and allow them to cool at room temperature.
To Make the Caramel Mousse:
Step 1: In a large mixing bowl, add the cream cheese and beat until creamy.
Step 2: Add in the caramel dip and beat until well blended.
Step 3: Add in the powdered sugar and beat until well blended.
Step 4: Add in the whipped topping.
To Make the Caramel Apple Mousse Cake:
Step 1: Cut the cooled cakes into two.
Step 2: Spread each of the 4 layers with ¼ of the caramel mousse.
Step 3: Top with caramel dip in each of the 4 layers.
Step 4: Sprinkle toasted pecans on top.
Step 5: Serve and enjoy!
