Yield: one 9-inch pie | Serving size: 9
This sweet potato pie has long been my favorite! The best sweet potato pie I have ever made! The best part is this is incredibly easy and quick to throw together using just a couple of readily available ingredients.
There is nothing I can compare with a freshly baked sweet potato pie. This recipe has been my go-to for the perfect sweet potato pie. To make this pie, all you need are a sweet potato and a handful of kitchen staples (butter, sugar, milk, eggs, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, ground nutmeg, and an unbaked pie crust). This is an amazing autumnal dessert that is most popular in the cooler months. This sweet potato pie is also a staple during the holiday season.
Ingredients
2 big eggs
½ c. of canned sweet potatoes, or use 2-3 roasted, peeled, or pureed sweet potatoes
¾ c. of sugar
4 tbsp of softened butter
¼ c. of milk
1 tsp of vanilla extract
¼ tsp of ground cinnamon
¼ tsp of ground nutmeg
1 unbaked 9-inch pie shell, homemade or bought
Pinch of salt to taste
How to make Sweet Potato Pie
Step 1: Prepare the oven. Preheat it to 300 degrees F.
Step 2: Using an electric mixer, beat the sweet potatoes, a half cup of the sugar, eggs, butter, milk, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt until blended and smooth.
Step 3: Into the pie shell, pour the blended mixture and sprinkle with the rest of the sugar. Set aside for about 15 minutes to allow the sugar to melt before baking.
Step 4: When ready, bake the pie in the preheated oven for about an hour until done.
Step 5: Remove from the oven when done and allow the pie to cool before slicing.
Step 6: Serve and enjoy!
Tip:
Once a toothpick inserted in the center of the pie comes out clean, the pie is done.
