I love this Homemade Parmesan Cheese Spread. It is incredibly easy and quick to make using just a couple of simple ingredients. It is the best spread for crackers or bread. I whip this spread up the night before and keep it in the fridge until the next day. I find that the flavors blend well when this spread sits for a couple of hours or overnight.
This week, I have been super busy. I went home last night, very tired, and grab a bottle of wine. I paired it with my favorite homemade spaghetti and bread. I almost forgot that I still have leftovers of Parmesan Cheese Spread! My night alone was a blast! This easy Parmesan Cheese Spread made my day!
To make this Parmesan Cheese Spread, all you need are ingredients that you might already have on hand and a food processor. The trick is to blend the ingredients until you have a crumbled texture. Do not over blend or you’ll end up with a pureed spread.
Ingredients
Olive Oil
Parmesan Cheese, one big brick
6 – 8 Garlic cloves (adjust depending on how garlicky you want it)
Fresh Basil Leaves
Crushed Red Pepper
How to make Homemade Parmesan Cheese Spread
Step 1: Start by crushing and peeling the garlic. Into cubes or chunks, cut the cheese.
Step 2: In a food processor, whirl the garlic until just barely chopped. Then, add the cheese. Blend until coarsely crumbled.
Step 3: Slowly add the olive oil and blend until combined. Make sure not to over-process. You should have a crumbled mixture not pureed.
Step 4: To the food processor, add a handful of basil leaves along with a dash or two of crushed red pepper. Blended for just 1 to 2 seconds until the basil is chopped and incorporated.
Step 5: Place the spread in the fridge for a few hours or overnight.
Step 6: Serve the Homemade Parmesan Cheese Spread with crackers or sliced Italian bread. Enjoy!
