The sauce alone of this dish is more than enough to let you know that you are in for a treat! In less than an hour, you and your loved ones are going to enjoy these Herb Roasted Chicken Thighs in Creamy White Wine Sauce! This dish is total comfort food for your family!
Ingredients:
½ c white wine
1 c chicken stock
Italian seasoning (divided)
3 pounds chicken thighs, bone-in, skin-on
Salt and pepper
3-4 thyme sprigs (leaves only)
1 tbsp olive oil
1 medium onion, diced
1 tbsp flour for thickening the sauce
3 garlic cloves, chopped
½ c heavy cream
Salt and pepper to taste
2 tbsp butter
Directions:
Prepare the oven and preheat to 200 degrees C or 400 degrees F.
Place a large skillet on the stove and turn the heat to medium-high. Add 1 tbsp of olive oil and allow it to become hot.
Sprinkle Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper over each chicken thigh, and rub it until coated.
Add the seasoned chicken thighs into the hot skillet, then sear each side for about 5 minutes. Transfer them to a clean plate.
In the same empty skillet, add 2 tbsp of butter and allow it to melt.
Add the onion, then sauté for a few minutes until a bit caramelized.
Add garlic, thyme, and 1 tsp Italian seasoning. Sauté for another minute or until aromatic.
Add 1 tbsp of flour, then whisk and cook for a minute.
Pour in the wine, then scrape the bottom of the skillet to get the browned bits. Add the heavy cream and chicken stock, then stir until well blended. Add salt and pepper to taste.
Put the chicken thighs back into the skillet, then toss until well coated with the sauce. Remove from the heat.
Place the skillet in the preheated oven and cook the chicken for another 35 minutes. Remove from the oven and garnish with freshly chopped thyme.
Serve over rice or mashed potatoes. Enjoy!
