Ingredients:
2 tbsp olive oil
1 onion chopped
2 lbs cubed chuck or stew meat
10 ½ oz beef broth
10 ½ oz French onion soup condensed
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 bay leaf
salt & pepper to taste
3 tbsp cornstarch
⅓ c water
Directions:
Place a large pot on the stove and turn the heat to medium.
Add olive oil and allow it to become hot.
Season with salt and pepper the beef.
Add the beef into the pot and sear each side until brown. Remove from the pot onto a clean plate.
In the same pot, add the rest of the oil and allow it to become hot.
Add the onion and sauté until translucent.
Add the soup, broth, bay leaf, and Worcestershire sauce. Stir until well combined.
Put the beef back to the pot and allow the mixture to boil.
Turn the heat down to low and cover the pot. Simmer everything for about 2 hours.
In a small bowl, add water and cornstarch. Stir until well blended.
Pour the mixture into the pot and stir until well mixed and thick.
Add more salt and pepper to taste, then remove the bay leaf.
Serve and enjoy!
Note:
This dish is best served over rice, noodles, or mashed potatoes.
