Prep Time: 5 mins | Total Time: 25 mins | Serves: about 30 crackers
My newest obsession! These maple bacon crackers are the best party hit! Do away with the boring cheese and crackers and make every carnivore happy with these tasty maple bacon crackers! The sweet-salty-savory crunch of these crackers is to die for! The candied bacon on top of the crackers and the slight sprinkle of pepper simply push all the right buttons! And the smell of maple bacon will linger as these bacon crackers bake.
Beware, these maple bacon crackers are addictive! One bite, and you’ll surely get hooked! For best results, make sure to use thinner bacon. Thick-cut bacon takes longer to crisp up and might make the crackers burn. To weigh down the bacon and prevent it from curling up, use a generous amount of brown sugar.
Ingredients
8-10 slices of bacon
1 package of butter crackers (such as Townhouse or Club crackers, either rectangular or oval)
1 c. brown sugar
1 pinch of ground black pepper
1 pinch of cayenne pepper
How to make Bacon Crackers
Step 1: Prepare the oven. Preheat it to 350 degrees F or 175 degrees C. Using parchment paper or aluminum foil, line a baking sheet.
Step 2: On a wire rack set into a lined baking sheet, align the crackers, leaving a bit of space between each cracker.
Step 3: Into thirds or fourths, slice the bacon according to the shape and length of the crackers. On each cracker, place 1 piece of cut bacon lengthwise.
Step 4: On top of each bacon-topped cracker, sprinkle about 1 heaping tsp of brown sugar followed by a light sprinkle of cayenne and black pepper.
Step 5: Place in the preheated oven and bake for about 15 to 20 minutes or until the sugar starts to melt and the bacon is crisp.
Step 6: Remove from the oven when done and let the crackers cool on a wire rack.
Step 7: Serve and enjoy!
