Ingredients:
1 teaspoon garlic powder
3 slices provolone cheese
9 to 12 asparagus stalks, trimmed
1 teaspoon paprika
salt and pepper
3 large chicken breasts
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 tablespoon lemon zest
Directions:
Prepare the oven and preheat to 218 degrees C or 425 degrees F.
Slice each chicken breast into two but not all the way. Just create a pocket-like cut.
Rub salt and pepper inside the chicken, then squeeze lemon.
Add about three stalks of asparagus and provolone cheese in the middle of each chicken.
Sprinkle the outer part of the chicken with paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper, then rub until well coated.
Place a large oven-safe skillet on the stove and turn the heat to medium-high.
Add 1 tablespoon of olive oil and allow it to become hot.
Add the chicken and sear each side for 5 minutes or until golden brown.
Cover with foil, then transfer the skillet into the preheated oven and bake the chicken for about 15 minutes.
Remove the skillet from the oven and allow the dish to rest for at least 5 minutes at room temperature.
Serve warm and enjoy!
Notes:
You can use a regular skillet for this recipe. Just transfer everything into a baking dish, then bake inside the preheated oven.
