INGREDIENTS
1 pound ground beef
2 tbsp butter, melted
½ pound bacon
½ yellow onion, diced
1 tbsp steak seasoning
2 c. cheddar cheese, grated
1 (14-ounce) can of French bread dough (can substitute pizza dough if needed)
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
½ c. green onions, finely chopped
How to make Garbage Bread
Step 1: Prepare the oven. Preheat it to 375 degrees F.
Step 2: Cook the bacon in a skillet over medium heat until crispy but still chewy. Chop the bacon and set aside.
Step 3: After cooking the bacon, drain most of the grease from the pan. In the same pan, add ground beef and onions. With steak seasoning, salt, and pepper, season the steak. Cook for about 5 to 6 minutes until the beef has browned.
Step 4: Add the bacon along with the green onions. Stir and take the skillet off the heat.
Step 5: In a rectangle, roll out the French bread dough. Over the dough, evenly spread the beef mixture, leaving about a 1-inch border around the edges. Then, top the beef mixture with cheese.
Step 6: Tightly roll the dough, beginning with the long side, tucking the ends under about half an inch on each side. Then, place the bread on a baking sheet. With melted butter, brush the top.
Step 7: Place in the preheated oven and bake for about 20 to 25 minutes or until the bread is golden brown.
