Ingredients:
1 cup salted butter1 (at room temperature)
3 ½-4 cups powdered sugar2
½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2-3 tablespoons whole milk, half-and-half, or cream
Directions:
Step 1: Beat butter with an electric mixer for 3 to 4 minutes or until creamy.
Step 2: Add the 3 ½ cups of powdered sugar, vanilla, 2 tablespoons of milk, and cocoa powder. Beat until well mixed.
Step 3: Add 1 tablespoon of milk if the frosting is dry and powdered sugar if it is too wet.
Notes:
You can use unsalted butter instead of the salted one. Just sprinkle salt to make it a little salty.
Let the butter sit at room temperature as well.
Sift the cocoa powder and powdered sugar if they are grainy.
I use heavy cream because it makes the frosting lighter.
