Yesterday was my daughter’s 6th birthday and all she wanted to eat for breakfast was this. Ever since she saw this on TV, all she wanted was for me to make it. Her face lit up when she saw this laying on the table. She was so happy! Kids, right? Anyway, this will only take you about 30 minutes more or less to make. It’s so fun as well because of all the colours!
Ingredients:
½ cup butter
1 (16 ounces) package miniature marshmallows
2 tablespoons bourbon
1 teaspoon salt
1 cupcake mix with candy bits (such as Pillsbury® Funfetti®)
5 cups crispy rice cereal (such as Rice Krispies®), divided
2 cups fruit-flavoured breakfast cereal (such as Post® Fruity Pebbles®), divided
1 pinch sea salt
Directions:
Step 1: Line with parchment paper a 9×13-inch cake pan. Set aside.
Step 2: Place a large pot on the stove and turn the heat to medium-low.
Step 3: Add the butter and allow it to melt for 3 to 4 minutes or until melted and the colour turns into caramel.
Step 4: Add the marshmallows and cook for 2 to 3 minutes or until melted completely.
Step 5: Add 1 teaspoon of salt and bourbon. Stir until well combined.
Step 6: Add the cake mix and stir it dissolves completely. Remove from the heat and let it sit at room temperature.
Step 7: Add the ½ fruit-flavoured cereal and ½ rice cereal right away. Stir until well mixed. Add the rest of the cereal and stir until well combined. Transfer into the lined baking dish and press the mixture on the bottom part.
Step 8: Season with sea salt on top to taste.
Step 9: Serve and enjoy!
